The
Church
The history
of the church is the story of the Bible.
Jesus died in AD 33 and not long after that, on the Day of
Pentecost, was the first day of the church.
The events of that day are recorded in Acts chapter 2.
The history of the beginning of the church can be witnessed by
reading the letters of the New Testament.
The church that was in existence during the first century of our
present calendars is the church that we are a part of.
It is Christ’s church. We
follow the teachings of the Bible as they are written and worship the way
that they did since the beginning of the church itself.
The congregation in Sturgis is a continuation of what Jesus died on
the cross to establish all those years ago.
This is why we are called the
Church
of
Christ
, a non-denominational congregation in the Lord’s church begun on the
Day of Pentecost in Acts chapter 2.

The
Building
The
Sturgis Church of Christ first started meeting in the basement of the preachers home in
1967. In 1972 the work began for the present building, and was
completed in 1974. The auditorium was then remodeled in 1995, adding
more seating and updating the decor. In 2001 Air
conditioning was installed

The
People
The Sturgis church of Christ is a very friendly group of people who
come together to learn more about God and the Bible. We also come together to enjoy each other's friendship and closeness that comes with
a family setting. Monthly and annual events throughout the
year provide the wonderful opportunity to spend quality time together in fellowship
and support. We work together to help the local community by
assisting people throughout our community during times of need such as
death, illness, or house fires. Many of our efforts go beyond the local
area literally reaching around the world. Our congregation has
supported the following areas: the New Mexico Children's Home, the
children's home in Old Mexico, buying Bibles for the youth in Russia,
and sending men and their families through Bible schools, to learn the
Bible and become preachers and teachers in the ministry.
